Simple Joy

 

 

My favorite fountain in Mt. Vernon Place,

probably my favorte fountain in the world!

 

The cat tails and the turtle and the playful child,

all speak to a simple joy.

Things Unseen

 

 

Sometimes it's the things that you can't see or figure out

in an image,

or

in life,

that are the most

intriguing.

 

Not the things that make you crazy,

but the things that make you 

wonder.

This Brown Thrasher had me fooled for a little while as she was singing like a Mockingbird right outside my door.

The Rest of the Moon Story...

 

On the way to the beach to watch the moon rise, and crossing the Bridge of Lions,

there rose the BIG and beautiful moon.

With the car parked on the other side of the bridge and walking to 

get a shot of the moon in the rigging of El Galeon

which is docked in the harbor,

the moon crosses the lighthouse,

and the dreamed of shot is captured,

Enjoying the scene, as El Galeon and the lighthouse and the moon converge

something shoots into the sky from the space center.

WOW!

Living right.

Friday's Full Moon Story

 

 

This is the begining of the story of Friday's full moon,

the largest I have seen in a long long time.

 

(More to come tomorrow...

and there is a surprise at the end!)

 

 

 

 

 

 

The Sun Never Sets

 

 

The way that the horizon curves in this photograph,

it looks as though the sun might take us all with it,

clouds, earth and water,

as it sets beautifully at the end of a long day.

 

But the sun doesn't really set, does it?

 

So it can't take us down with it,

only farther along, with our sister planets (even Pluto),

on this crazy journey through space and time.

These Two Clouds

These two clouds drifted apart a bit more

before coming back so close together that they became one.

Kind of like our relationships,

the rythm of our friendships and love,

ebbing and flowing

like grand clouds dancing in the sky.

Far apart one moment

and close as a kiss the next.

This is a time to cherish our connections,

and to send our love where tragedy has struck,

hoping for only good things in the days ahead,

for those who are hurting the most.

Dedicated to the victims of the Oklamoma tornados.

And aren't we lucky to see such things?

 

Getting Above the Clouds

 

 

That moment when the wheels lift off the tarmac and you are airbourne, just inches from the ground,

you shake your head at the thought of this huge metal can flying

and off you go, into the clouds on a rainy day in Baltimore.

 

It's not raining above the clouds,

the sun is shining, and the sky above is blue.

 

And isn't that the perfect metaphor for all of our rainy days,

if we can just get above the clouds?

 

 

 

 

 

 

We have lift off at BWI Airport, full steam ahead!

The Birds Are Singing

 

 

This is the day that the rain started and it seemed that it would never stop.

 

But it did and all is well now.

The ponds are higher than they've been in a long long time,

and the birds are singing,

happy as ever.

I Must Be Living Right...

 

 

How lucky to go home to Baltimore and stumble upon the Flower Mart

in Mt. Vernon Place,

and to spend the afternoon with one of my very favorite people on the planet.

 

I must be living right.

Don't Give UP.

 

Squirrels appear to have magnets or Velcro on the bottoms of their feet.

 

They really do fly from tree to tree, defying gravity.

 

And they never ever give up.

A big storm - thunder and wind and rain - the air clears,

the fires are out and the smoke disappears.
